2025 – A gobelin full of peacocks
About This Project
In 2025 my husband decided after years of not wanting to wear costumes that he would like to join me at Versailles for the Fetes Galantes and at Vaux le Vicomte for the big garden celebrations the weekend before.
Since my stock is more than full with too much fabric and decoration stuff, I decided to use a colour that I have never done before: Purple in four different shades that I still had on stock.
As the front display I used an old carpet, a gobelin with figurines in 18th century style. It was a garden scene in the wrong colour. The background was more pinkish and I dyed it purple with acrylic paint.
Peacocks are some of my favourite animals. For years I have been using the birds on my wigs, this time some of their heads were peeking out of the carpet. And my signature big head pieces also had fan like peacocks all over. The big straw hat had a swing on top with an 18th century woman sitting and dangling on it with every move I made.
The skirt was modular again, so I was able to sit in the taxi to Vaux le Vicomte.
The wig was modular, too, the straw hat and the birds changed places at each event.
My husband got a long french braid tail and had a diorama of Versailles built into the wig.
